The Alzheimer’s Association announced that its 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – Charlotte has been ranked No. 18 in the nation out of the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2023 Top 30 Walks.

The Charlotte Walk earned a spot among this ranking for the first time in 2016 becoming increasingly more successful since then. Participants in the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte raised an incredible $861,256 to fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs, surpassing its $850,000 goal.
“Congratulations to all involved in our Charlotte Walk for their hard work and support in making this a nationally ranked event,” said Katherine L. Lambert, CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter. “We appreciate our Walk participants, volunteers, sponsors, staff and the entire North Carolina community for going above and beyond to make our Walks a huge success and to raise critical funds for Alzheimer’s research and local support services.”
Rankings are earned by overall event revenue, and include walks from over 600 communities nationwide. In 2023, nearly 355,000 people participated in more than 600 Walks across the country, raising $100 million — a record amount for any single year since the inception of the world’s largest event to fight the disease.
“These vital funds enable the Association to deliver 24/7 care and support, advocate fearlessly for people facing the disease and fuel groundbreaking research across the globe,” said Coulter Warlick, volunteer chair of the Executive Leadership Team for Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte. “And this is only the beginning. With the current advances in treatment, our work is more important than ever. We won’t rest until everyone living with the disease — at any stage — can get the treatment, care and support they need and deserve.”
On behalf of all those we serve, we can’t thank you enough, North Carolina, for your support of Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2023. Together, we raised over $2.4 million for Alzheimer’s research care and support. The most ever collectively raised across the state.
