Charlotte Area Family Dementia Conference and Resource Fair Being Hosted by Local Organizations

Alzheimer’s Association and other local groups will provide education and resources on dementia

The Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter, in partnership with area organizations, will be hosting the Family Dementia Conference & Resource Fair. This free event include an afternoon of learning opportunities and exhibits by local businesses and organizations that offer resources for dementia caregivers and area residents.

Family Dementia Conference & Resource Fair
Saturday, April 20 | 1:00-5:00 PM
Living Saviour Lutheran Church
6817 Carmel Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226

Light refreshments provided by Living Savior Lutheran Church. Attendees will also have a chance to win door prizes as well.


The event will include three workshops:

Understanding Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease 1:30-2:15 PM
This workshop will address: what dementia and Alzheimer’s are, how they are diagnosed, and what treatments are available.
Presenter: Mike Mannion, CSA, CDP, CPRS, a certified senior advisor for Senior Care Authority

Prevention, Healthy Living and Brain Health for All — 2:30-3:15 PM
Explores what science tells us about brain health and lifestyle interventions that reduce risk for disease.
Presenter: Saghar Kholghi, a community educator for the Alzheimer’s Association

Feeding our Souls: Caregiver Health & Spiritual Practices for our Loved Ones — 3:30-4:30 PM
A panel discussion focusing on caregiver health and spiritual needs of caregivers and those living with dementia related diseases.
Panelists: Amanda Buck, director of community engagement for Carolina Caring & Jill King, chaplain at Trinity Oaks Retirement Community
