National Volunteer Week 2024 — A Thanks from NC Leadership

Dear North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association Volunteers,

Thank you! Volunteers, like you, are the key to making a difference in the lives of people facing Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. When you volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association, you join a network of passionate people who are working to fight this devastating disease, honor loved ones, and bring care and support to those who need it. We’re celebrating your passion and efforts throughout National Volunteer Week. No matter your time or expertise, you can make a difference. We continue to be grateful that you are a part of our team and have chosen to share your time and talents with the Alzheimer’s Association.

It is deeply sorrowful to be sending you this letter without the accompanying signature of my colleague, Lisa Roberts, our long-time executive director for the Eastern North Carolina Chapter. By now, most of you have learned the news of her passing earlier this month. As a consummate champion of our volunteers, I know I’m still speaking on her behalf when I share this appreciation.

As a North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association volunteer, you have delivered critical support and education, raised funds, and advocated for Alzheimer’s priorities to help achieve our vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. In partnership with our staff, you have expanded our reach into communities, provided personalized support to those impacted by the disease and moved the mission forward with your passion.

We hope your experience as an Association volunteer has been rewarding, enjoyable, and worthwhile. We rely on volunteers like you across all areas of our organization: from our special events to our care and support, advocacy, operations, and office support; YOU are the lifeline of our organization.

The Alzheimer’s Association leads the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia — by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.  We are grateful for your heart to serve. Thank you again for sharing your time & talents with us!

We look forward to another year of work alongside you.

Sincerely,

Katherine L. Lambert
Region Leader for the NC, SC & GA Chapters and Western Carolina Chapter CEO

P.S.  During National Volunteer Week (April 21-27) we are taking a moment to celebrate all of you who are volunteers (or potential volunteers!) here in North Carolina for the Association.  You are invited to join us for Cheers for Volunteers on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. RSVP here.  We also are proud to be spotlighting our volunteers, their inspiring stories and contributions in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia on our Western Carolina Facebook  and our Eastern North Carolina Facebook pages daily during the week.
