AMY FORD – National Volunteer Week 2024 Spotlight

We are endlessly grateful to our volunteers for giving their time to better the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Our volunteers are truly the heart of the Alzheimer’s Association here in North Carolina.

In honor of National Volunteer Week 2024, we’ll be spotlighting a different volunteer from our Chapter each day. Today we are featuring…

AMY FORD
YOUNGSVILLE, NC

What brought you to volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association?

I met [executive director] Lisa Roberts over 10 yrs ago, and she introduced me to the ALZ Eastern NC chapter. My husband has lost several members of his family to this terrible disease, so it was a no-brainer for us to get involved.

What volunteer role(s) do you have with the Association?

I currently volunteer as a Board member for the Eastern North Carolina Chapter.

What do you enjoy most about your volunteer role?

Meeting and connecting with the wonderful people who are working hard every day to make a difference.

What piece of your role do you feel makes the biggest impact?

Supporting the mission with ideas, making connections to further the mission, and helping to bring awareness to the Alzheimer’s plight.

If someone were considering volunteering with the Association, what would you say to them?

I would encourage them and tell them that it is a rewarding and worthy cause.

THANK YOU, AMY
