We are endlessly grateful to our volunteers for giving their time to better the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Our volunteers are truly the heart of the Alzheimer’s Association here in North Carolina.
In honor of National Volunteer Week 2024, we’ll be spotlighting a different volunteer from our Chapter each day. Today we are featuring…
TRICIA POOLE
ROLESVILLE, NC
What brought you to volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association?
I’ve worked with the senior population in various capacities for several years, and have seen the challenges families face when Alzheimer’s enters their lives. It is a difficult experience that changes a person’s life perspective. It is my desire to help the community and this organization change the impact this diagnosis has on future generations.
What volunteer role(s) do you have with the Association?
I am a committee member for The Longest Day in North Carolina.
The Longest Day Committee helps recruit participants, provide coaching on fundraising and event planning, and spread the word about this creative campaign that invites anyone to outshine the darkness of Alzheimer’s on any day of the year.
What do you enjoy most about your volunteer role?
Collaborating with others on the committee and offering support to bring awareness to the larger community.
What piece of your role do you feel makes the biggest impact?
Engaging others who share in the fight to end Alzheimer’s.
If someone were considering volunteering with the Association, what would you say to them?
It is a great opportunity to meet people around the state to share ideas and plan activities that will bring awareness to the global efforts to end this disease.
THANK YOU, TRICIA
