Two Walk to End Alzheimer’s Events in N.C. Ranked Among Top 30 Walks Nationwide

The Alzheimer’s Association has announced that two walks in North Carolina have ranked among the top 30 walk events nationwide. The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – Charlotte has been ranked No. 17 and the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – Triangle (Raleigh-Durham) has been ranked No. 29.

Fox 46 Charlotte Meteorologist, Tara Lane, walked with her family in her neighborhood in honor of her dad.

Despite the fundraising hurdles that befell most nonprofits this past year, both walks continued to grow and move up in the country’s rankings. The Charlotte Walk earned a spot among this ranking for the first time in 2016 at No. 23 and has remained in the top ranking since then. Participants in the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte raised over $626,000 to fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. The Triangle Walk is making this list for the first time this year, raising over $389,000. Rankings are earned by overall event revenue, and include walks from over 600 communities nationwide.

“Congratulations to all involved in our North Carolina walks for their hard work and support in helping earn two nationally ranked events,” said Katherine L. Lambert, Region Leader for NC, SC & GA Chapters. “We appreciate our Walk participants, volunteers, sponsors, staff and the greater community for going above and beyond to make these events a huge success and to raise critical funds for Alzheimer’s research and local support services.”
