LARA JIMERSON – National Volunteer Week 2023 Spotlight

We are endlessly grateful to our volunteers for giving their time to better the lives of those impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. Our volunteers are truly the heart of the Alzheimer’s Association here in North Carolina.

In honor of National Volunteer Week 2023, we’ll be spotlighting a different volunteer from our Chapter each day. Today we are featuring…

LARA JIMERSON
WILMINGTON, NC

What brought you to volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association?

I began volunteering with the Wilmington Walk Committee back in 2016 when I started working at McKee Homes, as they are involved in several NC Walks in areas where we build homes. Since my family had a personal connection with Alzheimer’s, it meant a lot that it was an organization they supported.

What volunteer role(s) do you have with the Association?

Over the past 7 years, I have been a Sponsorship Chair, Co-Chair & Chair of the Wilmington Walk, as well as a Team Captain.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s Committee members play a key role in the success of each event, from getting local companies involved to helping participants engage with our mission to planning the event experience.

What do you enjoy most about your volunteer role?

The wonderful committee members and friends I have made while doing something to support my community.

What piece of your role do you feel makes the biggest impact?

Any time we are able to get resources and support to caregivers and those who can benefit from all that the Alzheimer’s Association has to offer.

If someone were considering volunteering with the Association, what would you say to them?

It is an amazing group of caring individuals with the common goal to put an end to this disease. Every person brings different talents, skills and passion that help make each Walk a success.

THANK YOU, LARA
